Why Cartridge Failures Directly Relate to Your Toner & Ink Manufacturer
With over 10 years of experience in this industry I can think of quite a few reasons why both toner & ink cartridges fail. The most common type of failure and the highest percentage of malfunctions happen with improperly refilled toner & ink cartridges – especially refilled toner cartridges can fall prey to an over 40% failure rate. This can seriously damage your expensive printer. So I’d highly advice you to steer clear of refilled toner cartridges.
One of the most common errors I’ve seen happen in the industry is when a remanufacturer actually puts the wrong toner & ink in the cartridge. An example of this is that instead of filling the cartridge with cyan toner they fill it with magenta and label it cyan. Or the wrong toner type gets filled into a cartridge so it is no longer compatible with your printer model although the label says it is. You’d be surprised how often this can happen. The lay eye might not immediately detect the difference and due to human error and lack of testing you can end up with the wrong color or a busted printer.
To understand why you need to find a reputable toner & ink manufacturer instead of just letting cartridge cost to be the underlying factor for all your toner & ink purchases you need to see how a laser printer works. When you click “OK” to print, your computer relays a message to a shiny magnetic tube called the printer drum telling it where to and how much of its magnetic charge to apply to the paper. The toner powder in your cartridge is magnetic as well. It is attracted to the drum and then to a transfer roller that puts the ink on paper where heat fuses the toner to attach to the paper.
Ok, so why did you need to know the above? Simply because each printer, although working on the same principle above, is NOT the same. Different brands also use different technologies. Sub-standard toner might not be compatible with your printer. It might have a different melting point or might not be the right consistency – there are many factors that need to be checked for optimal printing and printer performance. Therefore a reputable manufacturer is a MUST to ensure that they haven’t overlooked any production errors in their toner & ink manufacturing.
In the same way, all ink is not created equal. Inks have different thicknesses and different drying times, and most importantly different shades of color. Second-rate ink may leak out of the printing head and not only ruin your printing but also damage components of your printer. If the ink is too thick it may close off the print head altogether making your printer unusable.
There’s more to buying toner & ink than meets the eye. Ink splotches on paper, toner that rubs right off due to not being fused properly, paper jams and toner & ink leaks can all be avoided if you trust a reliable supplier with your toner & ink needs. They might not be the cheapest but if they have a ISO 9001:2000 certified facility with stringent testing and offer you a 100% money back or replacement guarantee you know you’re buying from the best.
