Sharp Releases New Workgroup Document MFPs with Advanced Functionalities
Sharp, a Japanese company, know best for their design and manufacturing of electronic products including LCD TVs, LED TVs, Blu-ray Players, Multifunction Printers, MFPs, Microwaves, Solar Panels and more has recently launched a new line of Workgroup Document System Multi-Function Color Printers that according to a press release “raise the bar for productivity with a faster controller, enhanced paper handling and standard Wi-Fi.” The systems also come with advanced touch-screen and enhanced cloud computing capabilities. The printer models announced in this release are as follows: MX-2640N, MX-3140N and MX-3640N. “These new workgroup models are designed around today’s contemporary office environments offering powerful multitasking features, off-premises cloud support, mobile device access and more,” said Mike Marusic , Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Solutions Group, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “Tablet-style menu navigation combined with a built-in retractable keyboard and Internet browsing ability enables these MFPs to be both high functioning and a strong value. Top printer manufacturers like Epson, Canon, Xerox, Dell, Lexmark and Ricoh have recently added their printers and copiers to EPEAT’s green electronics registry. Samsung, Hewlett-Packard and Konica Minolta are not far behind and are in the process of getting their products registered as well. If you haven’t heard of EPEAT, here’s a quick overview: Launched in the year 2006, EPEAT is a registry that includes products from more than 50 manufacturers all across the globe. The company is spearheaded as a partnership between various sectors including businesses, NGOs, other stakeholders and also has some government intervention. Many consumers are now getting increasingly aware of what products they put their money into. Epson Explains Why Inkjet Printers are All the Buzz Today
With all the major OEM’s releasing new and improved inkjet printers catered to the small office, you begin to wonder, do inkjets really have a place in the office environment? According to Samba Moorthy, Director of Sales & Marketing at Epson India, they can fill an important niche in the market. In an interview published in ComputerWorld, Moorthy talks about why Epson is currently directing its major focus on inkjet printers and inkjet printing technology: CW questioned Moorthy about how Epson lags behind some other major brands when it comes to producing laser printers. After all “the laser printer segment share is quite substantial if you look at the overall printer market.” Moorthy: We do agree that today a large number of customers still prefer the laser printers. HP Looking to Re-Enter the Smartphone Market
HP has always wanted to get into the smartphone market. After all, companies like Samsung, who are also into computers, printers and printing supplies have been able to pull it off more than successfully. A little over two years ago HP had bought Palm but abandoned releasing the smartphones. An unexpected move since Palm was bought for more than a billion dollars. In a recent conference in San Diego, HP’s CEO Meg Whitman announced that the company was now looking at ways to re-enter the smartphone market, as published in UTSanDiego.com: “In many countries for many people, (smartphones) may be their only computing device, so over time we got to get in there,” she said. “But we have to figure out how not to lose a boatload of money while we do it.” “Our corporate strategy, given the set of assets, is we want to be the solution for the new style of information technology, and that means cloud and virtualization and security,” she said. “And we just happened to be the only provider who can go from the devices that will access this new style of information technology to the hardware to the software to the services.” HP is [...]
